Our latest mural illustrates how, on a daily basis, thousands of people engage with the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago. We’re proud to recognize the Y’s mission of empowering the young people of our city.
The three activities depicted in the mural represent the comprehensive way the Y approaches learning. Creativity, learning through experiences, and developing lifesaving skills help transform young people into whole individuals, fit for the challenges of the real world. And, it’s having an impact. More than 200,000 individuals and families seek out these experiences on an annual basis at 14 YMCA centers, five overnight camps, and the many other extension sites throughout Chicagoland.
Beyond being a great place for safe recreation, the Y strives to instill care, honesty, responsibility, and respect in every child enrolled in its programs, ranging from early childhood, after school, and day and overnight camps, just to name a few. Through these programs, the Y fosters values to help young people reach their full potential.
And, our involvement with the Y spans all levels of the nonprofit organization. From supporting association board memberships to our Wintrust employees volunteering with local centers, we understand the work happening every day behind this mission. That’s why the Y’s role in developing the youth of our communities make this an ideal partnership.
We’re humbled our Founder & CEO Ed Wehmer is being presented with the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago’s Partner Award at its 2021 Recognition Dinner. As we look forward, we’re committed to many more years of support, friendship, and shared values.
